The Dunwell Brothers Band – two brothers, two cousins, five best mates.
Their aim is to produce timeless songs performed with passion.
The band members are brothers Joseph (vocals & guitar) and David Dunwell (Vocals/Piano/Banjo), cousins Jonny Lamb (Vocals & Drums) and Rob Clayton (Bass), and Dave Hanson (Guitar & Pedal Steel)
Their debut single ‘Elizabeth’ was released on the 1st March 2010 and reached number 31 in the UK independent release charts.
The band has since been making an impact on the London music scene, and has performed at many famous London venues such as The Troubadour where Bob Dylan made his UK debut, and the Bedford where Paulo Nutini was discovered.
Touring extensively throughout the UK and Europe, in 2010 the band played festivals such as Hop Farm (with Bob Dylan & Van Morrison), the Edinburgh Fringe, Triumph LIve (with Mumford & Sons) & the Fete De La Musique in Paris. They were also featured as leading UK coffee chain Caffe Nero’s “Artist of the Month” in November 2010, and undertook a 40 date coffee house tour to support this.
Their debut EP was launched in October 2010. This has gone on to sell over 3000 units since release. The CD is available via distribution outlet – Zavvi.com
February 2011 saw their first visit to the United States, where they received a rapturous response at the Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis. Louis Meyers, director of Folk Alliance described them as “Mind Blowing”. They also played to a capacity crowd at Nashville’s famous Bluebird Cafe.
They recently signed to US Record Label – Playing In Traffic records – and recently ecording their debut album in Austin, Texas during June 2011 with Grammy winning Producer John Porter (The Smiths, Ryan Adams, Los Lonely Boys). The album is set to be released in late 2011 (UK) and early 2012 (US)
